KI Live - October 2022 (Summary)———
Section 1 - State of the Games (W101 / P101)📁Pirate101's 10th Birthday! Kicked off celebrations with Birthday quest, new eyepatch, new items (dandy gear, trusty trunk, etc), along with new plushies (Bonnie Anne & Ninja Pig).
📁Pirate101 is going on Steam, and they are starting new user acquisition campaigns - partnering with streamers and ramping up advertising. More people playing means more people working on Pirate
📁Updates to Pirate101 yesterday added "Realm Clustering" - when you log into Pirate, you'll automatically be directed to the most crowded realm - important for new players!
Section 2 - Questions
Expanding into other regions for Merch - the Merle Vinyl Figure was launched as part of that goal. There are a few new things in the pipeline - they can't spill beans but think you will like it.
Favorite new mob added to Novus: There is one that when she (Falmea) first saw the concept for it, it haunts her nightmares. It's just "long" and "creepy". Its definitely one of the more memorable ones, but not one that was teased.
Not immediately planning to add activities to the Commons BUT they have various games you can play with friends using Cantrips, and some in your home.
Moving in another direction for dual schooling rather than Mastery - you may have seen that teased on Ratbeard's stream. You can now manifest school-specific pips that let you use Mastery without the Amulet, or you can run the Amulet and a Tertiary school.
Design gear to encourage certain types of behavior (i.e dual school). The risk with "gimmick" gear is that if its too good, it becomes meta gear. They do experiment, such as with the Arcane Express gear (one stat)..
Favorite moment in P101 History: Falmea: As a player: Trojan Horse encounter, As a dev: Fixing the Hydra bug! Sparck: First time he got with the community in a Nautical XP fight! Joel: Added the Prawns to the Game, and made all the jokes about them being shrimp. Mythdust: Being apart of putting the game on Steam! Excited that its finally happening
P101 on Steam will work just like Wizard101 on Steam. New accounts can join on Steam, but nothing will change for existing accounts.
There are technical limitations to expanding the friends list. The way its setup would mean - at least on pirate - that the friends system would need reworking & the friends UI would need to be redone.
The Pips System is meant to be smart, it will spend the cheapest pips first & wont spend school pips until it needs to. However, it will spend school pips if it needs them. It is pretty "edge-casey" to select pip priority, so its alright for now.
They never announce when test is (editor note: except that time before Karamelle that they did), its ready when it is but they are in final preparations.

KI Live – September 2022 (Summary)
Section 1 - State of the Games (W101/P101)📁 Actively working on returning Raids to the game - sooner than later. Novus was also announced - more TikTok teasers are on the way. 📁Want the EU Servers to catch up to the US Servers - excited to have brought Karamelle and already working on the next update. As winter gets closer, they'll let you know. They’re also working with Gamigo to spin up some user acquisition campaigns. 📁Their first outing to a gaming convention is not the last - they’ll let you know where they end up next. New steam trailer made by Trailerfarm, which they’ll continue working with. More videos from them soon! 📁 Re; broadcast breach: No other systems or data were accessed or compromised. 2FA has been discussed (before and after the breach), but it has a significant technical investment. 2FA wouldn’t have made a difference in this situation as no accounts were compromised. 📁 Rough start this morning for Pirate101, but it's back online now. Thanks for your patience. Keep on the lookout for exciting news about Pirate updates that they can’t say anything about yet.
Section 2 - Questions
Giving away Seafarer's Gear in the Fishing Content, they are thinking to do this contest frequently so that there is a way to acquire this gear if you don’t already have it.
As for Guilds Trading - they cannot break the player economy as that would weaken the mission of the Bazaar. It would be desirable to improve the Bazaar - more people selling and buying - so that they can enable more things to flow through.. Mini Section 2.1 - Novus & World Design
The idea of Novus came up at the end of Empyrea (~2018). The world was considered “a little weird”. In terms of the surrealist art theme, it was the Art Director’s (Karl) idea.
As for the name, that was harder. The original name was “Slate” [as in clean slate] but it didn’t feel right. Eventually “Novus” came thanks to Latin. This world is both new to the Spiral & Player, so it fits!
The “Novus Trailer” is about 5% of what’s going on. Hoping with Kayly's help they can release a mega-trailer like the Steam one!
A world takes about a year to make, and every department is involved. As soon as the current world is out, they start "hammering on" the next one. They’ll have an outline with rough art, which becomes through-line for the plot, then quest outlines & finally an asset list that Art will have by the end of Spring. By the end of Summer, VO is Recorded so that sound have enough time.
The longest World was Empyrea, which was split. "Each half is 65% of a world” to compensate for the fact the player waits. Not promising but 2023’s World may be more conventional.
Lady Stonegaze / Drowned Dan were Cam's favorite key bosses to design, specifically Drowned Dan. That idea started from the desire to have players use more spells than they usually do.
As for Harvest All, the dev command tends to break things (as so much happens at once), so a spell may not be the best idea.
They wanted P101’s villains to seem faceless and monolithic, so that you wouldn’t sympathize with them. They talked about bugs, undead, and eventually “Mechanical People”, an episode of Doctor Who serving as inspiration.
During the creation of Skull Island, they had the idea that Crew Members talk to you. It made sense to have them “narrate”. While it was one of the coolest decisions they made, they had to go back and insert companion dialogue into the whole of Cool Ranch in two weeks!

Friday, September 16th 2022 (i/ME): [Bugs] [MajorBugs] [Offline] [WizBroadcastHack2022] The game suffers from a major hack in what is one of the most insane days yet. Surely a first!
These plushies combined outperformed the Piggle Plushie (June 2022).

KI Live – August 2022 (Summary)
Generic Information
Falmea, Vanessa & Joel are at Gamescom. Not revealing what they’re revealing but will be out soon-ish.
Planning another fishing event for Wizard101’s 14th Birthday (Sep 2nd). Based on feedback, they will try to align this with Zero Energy Fishing weekend.
Things will be happening for Pirate101 and Wizard101’s birthdays. CSC Signups end on Sep 9th.
Section 2 - Questions
Talked about the option to change guild names, considering things to polish and expand the guild system overall, and it’s on the list.
Name change has been looked into - requires R&D from tech. They can change stuff internally, but have no control over it. It messes up a lot of things in general, so they need to ensure that from the player side the change doesn’t mess with anything important.
Common gear that drops from Mobs will follow the new templates. Though, it will have less stats, and the stats found on it will be lower. If the level of the gear is lower, i.e: 152, it would scale that way.
In terms of partnerships with content creators, they do roundtables, and give out codes. Things on the scale of the Selena Gomez partnership are likely not happening.
Boys wearing pink! It’s on the list | Snack Attack model was based off a dev, Jeff Toney to be specific.
They will be looking at the Monstrology system in the future (similar to fishing), looking at the original intent, comparing how successful that was, and how it can be improved upon. They did add a Monstrology spell to the raid gate key recipe, though.
Bric-A-Brac Elixir does not work with the Guild House. Space will increase (interior & exterior) with each unlocked island. There are ponds at the Guild Island in-case they want to add fishing, but nothing concrete.
KI hasn’t got a new game in the works. Update is coming to Pirate101 this year
Know that they can’t just push people to dual school, without providing tools they need to do it. They have plans in-general for supporting dual-school.
Section 3 - Skeleton Key Questions
Decided to increase the amount and value that come from a Key. The intent of the system was to encourage exploration and social gameplay.
It was felt that the experience could be enhanced by making Keys appear less frequently, making for an impactful experience - i.e “I got a key! Let me DM my friends and run smth”
Because they were going to increase the value of a key, they needed to re-evaluate its sources for consistency, and to encourage its original purpose. As for drops, the value of the key was so high, it would virtually never drop, and would become frustrating and worse than not dropping.
They felt that the grind for the key, to then grind the boss was redundant. They started with original key sources, expanded on them with the last patch, and more sources will come as they move forward.
Instead of an unfun “kill mob 1000 times to maybe get a gold key” experience, they went with this. Not every activity can drop every type of reward, so they have to limit what each source drops to improve rates.
In the case of keys, you know where drops are, so you have influence on what you get when farming.
Stay tuned for reasons why the Stone and Wooden keys are still dropping.
Sources of Keys are now: Beastmoon, Deckathalon, Key Bosses, Raids, PvP Battle Pass, PvP Crafting, Spiral Showcase, Spiral Scene & Daily Assignments (Day 15).
Krampus dungeon will work as the rest of the key bosses, same amount of loot and Spellements.
Key boss will spawn based on the lowest level. Anyone outside the level band for a Skeleton Boss will get the participation trophy to signal to the participant to find players around their level.
In short, they explained a lot of their decisions, and especially the rationale behind Keys was cool!

KI Live – July 2022 (Summary)
State of the GamesPirate101: Working on an update ‘for more fun things for Pirates of all levels to do’, birthday surprises, “things for Decius’ team”, backend fixes (to make it easier to produce future content). Expect to see another update before 10th Birthday.
Hint: “A few of us will not be able to attend the next KI Live, for really good reason that they will share around the end of next Month.
Wizard101: Summer test realm! Devs will be jumping into Raids, but one rule is that developers will not help nor lead the raid, as part of the “necessary feedback” is watching people do Raids and seeing what happens.
As for EU, Karamelle is coming, likely not before the next KI Live but the one after that will likely provide more information. Working on other quality of life fixes such as chat changes & purchasing improvements.
Section 2 - Questions
Azoth is integral to how you do things in the guild. It‘s the core reagent for Guilds. Alchemy Station is the developer name for a crafting page where all the recipes can be crafted from the vendor, not related to lore.
There will “absolutely” be more guild name options. Looking at different options that guilds can identify themselves in a way that reflects them.
Definitely planning to add more islands to the Guilds House.
Amount of reagents required to unlock Guilds House areas is “set where they want them to be”. This is designed to be unlocked overtime as a shared goal. Nerf unlikely.
Re-evaluating key sources, some old sources will no longer exist and into the next milestone they will evaluate what sort of activities they want you to engage in to get keys. They will keep you posted on info.
Bug fixes for Monstrology announced soon. They have a list of categories and take them on as they have time to do so. No category within the next update.
Pirate101: Maybe an additional character slot, but they need to prioritize development time. There will be something else, but 'probably not in the next update or two'
Pirate101: More crown shop bundles coming out over the next few months & making more as they go along, working with the tools they have to find out what players want to buy and how they want to buy it.
Might decrease raid timer, reasons including that they feel players can beat it quicker, and that raids are designed to be difficult and the hardest content. Holding the fort on not nerfing them.
Artie did the zone design for the first Arc, and originally Dragonspyre was the last world and was to support Raid content, so all zones were made with that in mind. It made sense to use the zone as it was built for that type of thing.
There will be an update to raids, and they’re working in the way they would expect a highly coordinated team of players to work. Will make changes, test them, see what players think, and then keep going until they are alright with it.
Section 3 – Data with Decius
Most popular wish list item is packs, most gifted being the Pet Breadcrumb Pack, then the Celestian Spellemental & Primeval, then packs all the way down. Scepter of Tribute is all the way down at ~#80.
It is difficult to find the percentage of received wish-list items, as these are removed/added often.

KI Live – June 2022 (Summary)
State of the Games:Both games received updates today!
Wizard101: An update dropped today, focusing on PvP Changes, finally fixing the broken beastmoon anvil, and so on. They’ve been talking about guilds for around 10 years but had nothing beyond the idea stage.
Pirate101: They are introducing weekly events in Pirate101, which give quests that drop keys - unlocking some new content. More information can be found in the patch notes.
Section 1 – Misc:
[KIEmployees] New people were introduced: Diego (Character Art intern), Okidenshi (Animation intern) & Illana (Narrative intern)
Planning to do eight plushies this year! There were seven but one more was added to the schedule. Something is coming that will not be a plushie.
New crown shop tech coming with the summer update will show the free items, discounts & items contributing towards the crowns cost with bundles to increase transparency and tackle the issue of “people feeling like they’re not getting a good deal.” (cool)
“Coolest looking house” they’ve done coming in November with the World bundle.
Recognise that not everyone wants to play PvP for Arena Tickets. If there is something simple locked behind Arena Tickets it will probably be given out via another way to not compromise the purpose of tickets attracting PvP Players
Hard at work on the first update for EU Wizard101. Working on a few things on the website, things that will “go in before the first big update”, but also working on Karamelle. Getting closer - long list of languages to translate.
Section 2 – Questions:
End-game Wizard universe is definitely after Pirate. Scholars are debating the rest. (yoooo)
They’ve not forgotten the flooring & wall for the Skatepark set but the Guilds housing stuff took priority. Gary is working on it and it will be done at some point.
Loyalty Store: There is a plan to change the mount once a quarter to every six months to give people an opportunity to purchase it. Member elixirs will probably be every month, packs month - every other month. Bigger things you need to save for will not change out as often.
Player Guide on the website will be updated soon with information on Battle Pass, Cantrips & PvP.
Discussed adding bots for PvP newbies, but that requires better AI, which requires Hard Mode. PvP is an end-game activity, and PvE should prepare you PvP. There is gap to close to make mobs smarter - but players may see some better mob behaviour soon.

KI Live Lite – May 2022 (Summary)
State of the Games:Wizard101: Brought EU players home from Gameforge and actively working on rolling out Karamelle. Retiring 4th Age tickets - vendor kept until Summer update. Will find new use for trophies in a future update.
Pirate101: There was a roundtable recently, announced that there will be a small update next month with bug fixes, new things & loot to chase. Second update looks like it will be before the 10th Birthday.
Section 1 – News/Info:Code includes the new “Malistaire Saga Spellemental Pack” - one only though! It was also hinted that there are plans for a Wizard101 Discord but we all knew this asdfgshsjvg.
IslePlay is announced, a “community stream” where Kyle & Hawkules play W101/P101. Every Friday, except the KI Live week. First one is on June 3rd from 3:30pm CT to 5pm CT.
Pride Month: Charity mount will benefit “Outright Action International”, a charity advocating for the LGBTQ+ community and rights. All money raised will be donated.
Creating merch with the rainbow logo, and the money will benefit the charity mentioned above.
Kyle & Chris (Hawkules) will host a Pride Charity livestream on June 11th at 12pm CT. Money raised will benefit charity above.
Piggle Plushie is announced and shown on stream, following the teaser prior. Two will be given away later. Pirate101 will be getting two (Pirate101) plushies, no details yet!

Maybe there will be even-faster combat animations for Pirate!
Ratbeard: Favorite housing item is the Garden Gnome, Arcade items also up there.
Interested in bringing back tournaments, but it needs to be reworked to be used as intended, for players to compete rather than farm tickets or AFK.
They don’t want low-level players getting into PvP, more of an end-game activity. Not a good play experience, with little spells & diversity. Another reason is that this ends up creating a specific strategy at certain levels (ie. Level 10). Level up if you don’t meet a league.

KI Live – April 2022 (Summary)
State of the Games:Wizard101: This one was used to address a lot of criticism of the spring update, so rather long. Making some significant changes in relation to acquisition rate & options for spellements. There will be a combat option for high level players. [0]
In terms of merciless, it was not the plan to make the gear more difficult to obtain - instead a side effect of spreading the gear out. Changes coming next update. [1]
Happy to look into the costs of Cantrips, and future updates may reveal why it costs energy. It shouldn’t be “spammable” and should feel worthwhile. [2]
Long term plans for lore spellements but for now they are back with Loremaster. [3]
The change gating PvP behind Membership or $6 Crowns spend will 100% be reverted. [4]

Leagues allow them to observe the meta and there are tools to tweak the meta (ideally between seasons) but for now they are watching it. [6]

Many possibilities with the Magic Touch mechanism, including some future ideas. For example, Joel highlighted an idea requiring 100 people to open a present in the commons for a reward! [13]
Working on a developer diary for gear and spellements. Gear chase in W101 is weird, as there's a few places with good gear and then nothing for a while. Gear is being created to fill certain roles (such as DPS) and just because there isn't gear for a certain role or dual school, does not mean it's not coming. [14]
All the planned Cantrips (42) were rolled out with test realm. The Sigil Support cantrips was not planned for the spring update. [15]
Once you’ve unlocked retriever, every self-hatch it will be unlocked again. [16]
Plans to make Cantrips more important. One early idea with Ritual Cantrips was a birthday cake that rewards everyone who lit a candle. Sigil Support is interesting, but it has to be abuse-proof. [17]
Cantrips is universal, but the result of the Cantrip can be impacted by your school. [18]
In terms of Pirate character customization, first priority is to focus on activities. When milestones are planned, they would weigh development and programming time for this against a new feature. [19]
New P101 world isn't happening soon. Development time is far beyond current capabilities. If it were to happen, it would be developed prior to announcement. If smaller development is successful in attracting players, then yes, they want to. [20]
Nothing for Guilds, stay tuned though. No short term plans for FPS Uncapping. [21]
Inspiration for Abner K Doodle came from another character – Abby K Doodle, a play on Abracadoodle. For the Wheelchair mount, they looked into it and it’s tricky, will require more effort than making it into a mount - doing it right is more important. [22]

So far in 2022: Just under 27,000 Empowers have been traded, 22,000 of those were sold to a vendor, 10,000 have been used in combat so far and only 11 have been crafted.

The show:
Gamma was chosen for the plushie as he is a mascot for the game, appearing in tutorial tips, etc. Also, new/old players would recognise him from the Tutorial.
Some positions are open, more open later this year. Integral to 2022 goals to maintain Wizard101 and starting Pirate development and “a few other things that they’re not ready to talk about yet.”
One thing that you could poof into P101? An events system like Wizard. Something unique weekly for Players to do.
The hardest thing to work on? Production / Art: Celestia in terms of the number of assets. It was a lot to do at once and the biggest single release, way too ambitious and they’ve scaled down. Writing: Catacombs. They were trying for a specific story (i.e flashbacks) and it was a headache for Design to implement. Marketing: RazerCon trailer, the first video was scrapped and it was a lot harder as Lemuria did not have a theme as Karamelle did.
“Dasein” is german for “being there”, as a result of someone who works there with a Philosophy major. It was the first name for "The Nothing"
How is the script formatted? Two big phases, first, the quest documents with the goals and dialogue, pages of quest goals, then the dialogue is filtered out for the next phase.
CL Spellements, 470 (Lemuria) started small things, such as integrating the Spellements in the SOF. They’re going to expand on this and feed this into a long-term plan. Dev diary soon.

Wizard101: Developing the next update. A few surprises that are “more social and narrative” in nature. As to rumors of declining population, trends are predictable, with some exceptions. A lower population is expected around these times and picks up later. Stay tuned for Wizard news coming soon from Gamigo. Pirate101: Still in the Hiring phase, and will be for a while. Looking into ideas that didn’t make the cut, and a few successes from Wizard they would love to take to Pirate101. Side activities may not be ported directly from Wiz as the codebase is different. It might be quicker to redo the feature in Pirate, not always though as porting the inventory lock was easy. Roundtable being announced soon-ish.

Superfan gear is in the Pirate101 game, though cannot be redeemed till next year. (~05:00)
In order to get zones that fit the story, they opted for strategic reuse. The base geometry was reused, though they redid the textures. The decision wasn't taken lightly. Lore-wise things needed to feel like they were bought in from other worlds. Telos is brand new, Sky City was almost brand new - inspired by Mid-Century modern and Brasilia. They wanted to make sure that every hero had a place that they belonged. Reuse allowed them to do that. (~26:12 - 29:00)
Now they have the capabilities for duel circles like these, "don't expect this is the only place you'll ever see it." With the Catacombs they came close with the final bosses in the Leyline Prison, though it didn't come together. This time they had 8 enemies and it lined up. (~40:00 / ~42:23)
Favourite boss to design, excluding the end boss? It's the Shark side boss that eats players! It's not like the Devourer Devour, it's a much more toned down Devour. (~44:12 / ~45:50)
Membership rerun confirmed during twelve days for both Wizard101 and Pirate101 (🎉), including new and existing accounts. (~54:20)
Kroger cards will be coming to GameStop in 2022. They are given X pegs to put the cards on, and are swapping the W101 $10 & $20 cards from GameStop. State of the Games:
Wizard101: Lemuria - the second WFH World and the first under Gamigo. Other things with the fall test realm include the PvP changes, quest organization, castle magic/adventure parties, etc. There is a dev diary planned to talk "high level direction". Job board "exploded", in a good way, and this means a few things. (08:00 ~ 10:00)
Pirate101: Officially resuming Pirate101 updates in 2022 after approval by MGI. A few expectations: A lot of pre-production work is required (no one at KI has ever made ships/skyways - those people have moved on, etc). If they were to "switch over to Pirate full throttle", it would start to impact Wizard101 updates next year. Focus of updates is daily/weekly activities, polishing the beginning of the game for new players, which they will make an effort to acquire. A pirate development roundtable is planned. (~10:20 - 12:00)

Wed, Nov 3 (i): [TR] Welcome to November! Month of the test realm, the first since Mirage. Speaking of test realm, we get the last Spiral Geographic Magazine teaser & the seventh Paper Pulp to craft the standee. Towards the end, we get something quite interesting - "check back next week, for one last, special announcement." - with the code expiring on 11/10 and test realm on the horizon, it's probably a safe bet what this "special announcement" is.

Happy with the succses of the Gamma Plushie, in talks with multiple companies to produce some more merch. Nothing to announce, things are moving though.
Trying some new combat-related stuff in Lemuria (in relation of different ways to engage in quests such as Play-As-Your-Pet). In other news, new "Castle Magic" spells and item confirmed. Extract cats is in the works but NOT in the next major Monstrology update.
Workload for gear audit is going to take time, more than expected, so it's pushed further down the schedule.

They gave away the Superfan Outfit... headphones. You could only get the headphones through the code "KISuperHeadphones" but the robe was more exclusive, given randomly away to 10 in chat & those who has their questions answered, with the boots coming on the next KI Live.
In terms of the Gamma plush, they would "love" to "do more" but it's not expected to be in the same capacity. If there was any more, it would be online and limited time in the same capacity.
Lemuria: Level increase to 150. End of world fight will be "very new and exciting" & one of the new zones was described as "one of the coolest in any world ever". 30-50 new housing items so far and hopefully close to 80 by release.

Pirate101: No public news yet. Doesn't mean nothing is going on behind the scenes but excited for the game's potential beyond the 10th Birthday.
[DATA] Interestingly, 15 players have the Night-Knight event scooter (the $700 one) but one was deleted so only 14 exist.
Birthday: New things are coming out for the birthday which are both paid and giveaways... some of those things will depend on when you created your account. A fishing tournament will also be active during Wizard101 13th's Birthday.
Opening up Wizard City for free actually caused a decline in engagement, so they are not looking to run that again. According to them, people went less deeper into the paywall. They're figuring out where to put the paywalls so that players can get through a decent chunk of content and stay engaged.
Something is coming to the Zazzle (merch) store that is described as a 'Hoot'.
Retired gear can be returned as newer gear with existing stitch models but retired gear will remain retired as to not inconvenience those who prefer it that way.
Leagues were brought up, a designation of different types of PvP, such as =<Level 50. Details are hazy but from what's understood, Leagues would be similar to Brackets in Tournaments.
Adding comments to the Team-Up Kiosk is interesting but will require further discussion with Gary.
Fast combat similar to Pirate? The combat systems vary so that isn't the solution - truncating the summon animation wasn't well received so they are back to the drawing board.
1. Aware that Sharpen is visually broken and working on a fix. 2. In terms of reporting, they are looking into methods of differentiating real players from throwaways. 3. Adding comments to the Team-Up Kiosk is interesting but will require further discussion with Gary.
Wizard101: Lemuria is 'really exciting' and PvP/Socialization initiatives continue. A unique fight is planned for Lemuria (possibly the most unique since Medulla). They also hinted to follow Instagram if you don't as some clues may appear.
Pirate101: Nothing much, though players may be interested in the press conference.
Sun, Aug 15: An instakill exploit is disclosed to the Wizard101 community. As of yet, this is not patched. EDIT: This is considered patched as of the update on the 18th of August 2021.
[DATA] Let's start with perhaps the most interesting bit of information this KI Live - according to stats from this year, >50% (~55%) of all players are under 18. This has varied, at launch the majority were <18, Mid-2010s this shifted to the majority being >18 and the recent years have again shifted to the younger demographic. Keep in mind that data from users <13 cannot be collected and that the average user may be >18 but the majority is <18.
[NP] Mesa (Maceryn) is introduced in the stream. She is the new CRM for KingsIsle (having streamed on Twitch for a while). CRM basically means she will be involved with forum moderation & social media. She's also mentions that she hopes to make the Instagram account more interactive for everybody. Speaking of the forums, the ranks stopped working and it's being looked into and fixed.
New emojis were result of a brainstorm on how to represent diversity/inclusion but also avoid opportunities for harassment and keep the game a safe space. They are hoping to provide higher quality emojis for fan-sites and communities to use in the future.
KI use Jira to organise tasks/tickets and assign those tickets to specific departments - then hand it over to QA for testing. They have to be aware of dependencies - such as Emojis (which require art) and implementation (which is design/programming). If a specific feature is waiting on an asset, they attempt to work on other requirements of the feature, such as a Wireframe if a model isn't available.
Funnily enough the things people like most about the summer update relates to their job! Sparck's was Adventure Parties (socialisation), Vanessa's was FTUE (Marketing) & Joel's was CS multi-buy / Wishlist - Ha, found that funny. Quick fire questions:
1. Item finder may be added to Bazaar and your own homes as it doesn't sound too difficult to do. 2. Looking into expanding the housing limit (as minimum requirements were higher) but it will require testing on older systems. 3. New arenas for PvP Not likely to happen this year. The artists involved focus on the new world instead. 4. Brackets around percentages is a bug. It's an interesting bug that's complicated. The game added them on its own (hah!) A fix is planned for the 800 instances where this happened. 5. Sinbad Gauntlet is not likely to have its level bands updated as it's akin to creating another dungeon. 6. Changing key bindings is on the shortlist but probably not this year. The ticket is there and there is some discussion but it's not a priority. 7. Level 150 elixir? If it's feasible as the Level 50 elixir was challenging to put together and creates issues when quests are changed. 8. Actively working on dyeing behind the scenes. Tech is taking a while and it wouldn't make everything available.
Wizard101: FTUE is done (Vanessa made her VA debut in the FTUE questline.) so the goal is to attract players with the polished content. They are pushing on further social initiatives and looking to do a social roundtable soon, with a lot more to come with the socialization initiative.
Pirate101: Working with Gamigo on Pirate101. Things are slow but progress is being made, with improvements to the backend metrics reporting for Pirate101. Speaking of, they're encouraged by the metrics of Pirate101 and are doing small-scale user acquisition efforts to expand the player-base. They're interested in expanding things that work well in Wizard101 to Pirate.
Mon, Jul 26: [TR] Test realm updates introduce the quest set in the 'Dead Archive' - and also a bug that replaces "%" with "[%]" on any instances of percent in the game, notably spells and jewels.

Wizard101: Focusing on the present (Summer TR / Meta) and the future (next world) - and some rehashing of changes. Summer update will continue on socialization. Lemuria is the next world. Art is producing characters and zones. Design is currently deciding what the new spells will be.
Pirate101: Pirate101 development resumed - Pirate101 is performing better than expected in 2020 Q1 and people are sticking around with the game - the effect of "RevivePirate101" is noticeable. They will update every month for transparency.

How often is the Seamstress used? This year is an anomaly. Stitches this year (so far) are almost the entirety of 2019 - 700,000 items stitched so far.

[State of the Games] Wizard101: Working on the summer update. Likely no test by next KI Live. A summer hint from the Writers: "You will meet someone new, and look at people you knew in another way. Beware the Rabbit." - Simultaneously working on the new world.
Pirate101: Final stage of Bug fixes. (Small update for Pirate101 next month - June 2021) - New max level boss and side story content / 9th Birthday. Exploring idea of expanding team.
Continued: The mounts would later be renamed to include "Mini" to reflect this.
Continued: This persisted for three or so days but began on the 20th, with many believing Wizard101 had been compromised, and the user "religion" putting out some very edgy videos trashing hacked accounts and fearmongering, things that never materialised. The videos are lost to time.

Reasons for upgrading to 64-bit were many but include maintaining the game for the future and making use of internal tools easier. They also reported 50% less crashes + also had to do it sooner or later. Exploring idea of uncapping FPS for 144hz monitors.
Game soundtrack on Spotify has been discussed and they want to revisit it but there are hoops to jump through for something like that.
Logic behind damage limitation is that linear progression wasn't sustainable long-term and it started breaking the game.
Professor's Hoard was heavily weighted to your school. The original intent for off-school drops was to sell them for gold, though you can also put them in Shared bank. At some point maybe they can audit all the gear and see if they sell for right amounts of gold.
AoE critical will be changed to be faster and cleaner in the future. As on live, When you cast an AoE and critical, it will give every mob a chance to block rather than crit on all. They will be chipping away at the worst offenders in spell animation time depending on the time available in Art/Design.
Community SoF is possible, something where players work together to gather points. Looking into Guilds but it would come at the very end of the social system initiative. They're exploring improving existing social systems first.
Name changing update? They really wanna do it. They wanna tackle it but seeing when they can fit the team together to do that & More FTUE coming up.
Time played for Wizard101? Something they can add but it would not be retroactive and not something they'll probably do.
Krok revamp? Not to the level of WC. They might make on it looking a little bit better and improve quest flow. They're interested in just finishing WC revamp and letting them do something else.
Falmea did voice some things early game, Banshee scream, Renee, Queen calypso & Kroks.
Offline mode for PvE? It's an online game bugger off. Unlikely to happen. World is often released in fall and they're trying to tease the next world a bit earlier.

Thu, Mar 25: KI Live for March 2021 comes through - an interesting KI Live! We got a teaser!!
[DATA] Average playtime per day in February was three hours. 9 Wizards have the "Ultimate Hands of Fate" - Oh, and the stream died five or so minutes in.
Two skeleton key bosses were teased - the first in Grizzleheim, the other in Karamelle. The GH boss will drop Spellements for the upcoming Ratatoskr's Spin, Hammer of Thor & Grendel's Amends paths. AOE animations will hit all - 17 done so far. There will also be a shadow gauge fullness indicator.
Placeable duel circle? They're large, hard to place. Uhm, they also have enough tech to accomodate only one duelcircle.
Crit, Damage & Block are now shown on enemies when selecting a spell that show your chance to crit and their chance to block.
They've talked about making custom quests with housing guests but not planned for 2021.
Loremaster drops rework? Not this update! (from chat)
Free moving camera for housing is doable. Unlikely for the game because they usually don't create things players can't (normally) see.
Though some players were in support of this reduction compared to the previous prices. In other news, the Spring Scroll of Fortune begins today for 2021, with the Floral Raiment gear.
Spring Update teaser shows that AOE animations have been shortened and updated to hit all at once (like SOM) - these spells include: - Fire: Fire Dragon & Rain of Fire - Ice: Frost Giant - Storm: Tempest, Storm Lord - Death: Scarecrow, Deer Knight - Life: Forest Lord - Myth: Humungofrog & Mystic Colossus - Balance: Ra
Scrapped story ideas won't be released because they might use them later on. The next world can be summed up in one word - Heroes. World doors happened a long time ago - pre, there were dangerous ley-lines / paths. Spiral doors are hard to make so they are rare. They're also not done with Merle yet.
Mattnetic has been updating gear to Level 140 with Joel on the efforts too - we will see a handful in the spring update. The ability to flip items upside down probably wont happen because of the way items are designed.
In terms of spells, utilities are desired as damage gets boring. They are hoping to phase out the old taunt and perhaps give boss mechanics to players.
Bundles with MSPs (Mega Snack Packs) are there because they (MSP) are some of the most purchased items in-game and they are always trying to get it out at a better rate. In other news, the crown shop is reaching 1,300 items. In an effort to keep things under 1000, some items will be removed that are not purchased often (last 6mo/yr) - we also learn of a Housing roundtable.
They acknowledged Heroes101's existence... or lack thereof. They also mentioned that adding "night time" to commons will result in having to remake the commons. Name changing will not be happening soon due to some backend that's tied to your name. They touched on the Deluxe Spellement Pack and that it will return next week. Finally, they are exploring a more robust system to dye gear, such as shades of pink instead of pink, though this will be on newer and popular gear. Wizard101: On schedule for the spring update, especially after the weather in Texas. Pirate101: Efforts to revive Pirate are actually helping the game, much appreciated and bringing players in (#RevivePirate101 & other activities). Their first Pirate goal is to have an update that is just bug fixes.
No updates on the acquisition, the beginning of the stream was used to re-assure players that not much will change. They also mentioned that they don't have concrete plans for console but think it would be cool.
An engine switch from Gamebryo is not likely due to the amount of time that will involve that can be used on other projects. They also mentioned that rewards for daily quests may be updated if people use it more.
Free membership is planned again but right now they're running through the numbers and seeing if revenue and quality increased as a result. They're thinking of guilds and talked about it but have no idea if it's coming in 2021.
Furthermore, In terms of bringing back older characters, they said they don't want to focus on cameos too much and rather introduce new characters.
They also touched on the poll - highlighting that it was made using player responses, the results might not reflect what happens and if the spells are in anyway broken they will probably get nerfed before being added as trainable. Finally, they mentioned that there are no plans to make the first arc free to play. Data with Decius: 1.
